MCI - District 3 Workshop at Centerton

The District 3 MCI Workshop was held April 16 – 17 in Centerton, Arkansas. The event began with an optional networking dinner Thursday at Langman’s Restaurant; the Friday workshop occurred in Centerton’s new District Court Building. Forty-three people attended, many of them for the first time. The program opened with a welcome from Mayor Bill Edwards. Classes were led by Colby Fulfer, Chief of Staff in Springdale; Thomas Dunlap, HR Director at Rogers; Cassie Elliott, President of Visionary Milestones; and Heather McVay, City Clerk of El Dorado.

Students learned about employee records and other HR best practices, how to navigate the grant seeking and management processes, and new insights into effective leadership. Led by ACCRTA Past President Heather McVay, a panel of expert CRTs shared their insights about the job, lessons learned, and advice for new CRTs, along with answers to questions from the audience.

Centerton Assistant to the Mayor, Nicola Hoofard, the workshop host, made sure everyone was welcome, comfortable, and well-fed. The generous business owners of Centerton donated nearly 40 door prizes. Workshop sponsors included Marrs Mercantile, Langman’s Restaurant, The Wicked Bean, Cody Miles, the Martinez Agency, and Tacos & Beer Spot.

Students who complete the Knowledge Transfer Action Plan (KTAP) on time will receive 6 hours of education credit toward basic or master level certifications.
