On Wednesday, January 14, ACCRTA hosted New Clerk Orientation at the Marriott Hotel in Little Rock. The house was full, with 110 participants engaging in the workshop to gain knowledge essential to excelling in their positions. The event featured sessions on acclimation to municipal government, clerk/recorder responsibilities, treasurer duties, and “28 Things You Need to Know.” In addition to municipal clerks, recorders, and treasurers, mayors, council members, and other city officials participated.
Current President Stacey Bennett, Cherry Valley, served as the workshop host. Special thanks to AML for providing the meeting space, and the experienced CRTs who shared their time and knowledge as presenters: Diane Whitbey, North Little Rock; Sharla Derry, Greenwood; Johnessa Boze, Lamar. We were also fortunate to welcome C. Jason Carter of the Carter Law Firm as a guest presenter.
CRT attendees received a certificate granting 2.5 hours of approved education from the Municipal Clerks Institute. These hours may be used toward the Certified Arkansas Municipal Clerk designation.
